Grape Hyacinth - Muscari neglectum



Scientific Name: Muscari neglectum.

English Name: Grape Hyacinth.

French Name: Le Muscari à grappes or Muscari négligé.

5 Key Characters:
  • dense cylindrical flower head 2-3 cm long.
  • flowers plum scented.
  • flowers dark blue.
  • individual flowers oval with white teeth.
  • long thin half cylindrical leaves.
Lookalikes: Garden Grape Hyacinth Muscari armeniacum, which has more globular flowers and no scent.

Habitat: Dry calcareous grassland.

Flowering Period: March-April-May.

Status: Uncommon and localised.
