Scientific Name: Coronilla minima (Fabaceae).
English Name: (Legume family).
French Name: Coronille naine (='dwarf little crown').
5 Key Characters:
- low growing (usually 10 - 20 cm high).
- leaves in 2 - 4 pairs.
- 4 - 12 small yellow flowers (5 - 7 mm) in a ring at the top of a long stem.
- straight seedpods 10 - 45 mm long.
Lookalikes: Horseshoe Vetch Hippocrepis comosum, which is larger and much more abundant and widespread.
Habitat: Calcareous grasslands and hillsides. Dry sunny impoverished calcareous soils.
Flowering Period: March-April-May-June-July.
Status: Rare.
