Lookalikes: Other Viola spp, e.g. Common Dog Violet V. riviniana, but none of them are scented.

Habitat: Hedgebanks, woods, scrub, usually on calcareous soils.

Flowering Period: March-April-May.

Status: Very common. Often a garden escapee.
