In cool damp woodland near the Loire River in the Touraine you can find patches of wild Gooseberry
Ribes uva-crispa (Fr.
Groseillier à maquereau) and Red Currant
R. rubrum (Fr.
Groseiller à grappe). These are genuinely wild populations and not garden escapees.
